Picking the Next Book

So, after finishing American Crucifixion, I am now trying to settle on the next book to read.  As all book lovers know, this is an exciting and frustrating experience at the same time.  I always have a long queue of books I can’t want to read.  But, it really depends upon my mood.  I have read several excellent history books lately and now feel I want to start something a bit lighter.  So, I will fall back on a good mystery.  I love mystery novels!  They cleanse the palate for more serious reading and yet provide a “Movie of the Week” type of enjoyment.   I really enjoy finding a series, featuring the same characters and following them upon their various cases.  But which one to start?

I have been enjoying the authors of the various Scandinavian countries, particularly Karen Fossum.  I have read all the books translated into English and find her writing style unique.  Her plotting is impeccable and the books really transcend the typical mystery novel.  They focus much more on the “why” than the “how”.  So, I will take some time to review books on the Internet (typically Amazon and Goodreads) and then either a) discover I have the book already (what a delicious feeling), b) try to find it on Kindle or c) put it on hold at the library.

So, off to the Internet.  Don’t be surprised if I come back with a book on Chinese mythology-it happens that way sometimes!
